Parent Advisory Committees (PACs) give parents a voice in shaping programs and services that support children and families in our community.
There are multiple Parent Advisory Committees helping guide the work United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County does in our community. Learn about each of the PACs and the communities they serve below.

ReadyKidSA
Established in May 2024 | Currently serving children 0-5 years old in Bexar County
- Our Purpose
To elevate parents’/caregivers’ voices and build leadership skills to support a fair and diverse community for families with young children. - Our Impact
- Developed a Welcome Letter to share with newly enrolled HOPES families, ensuring a warm and informative introduction.
- Executed the Little Library Outreach Project, distributing over 380 books across 29 locations in 16 Bexar County zip codes.
- The HOPES chair represents Bexar County on the state-level Parent Advisory Committee, advocating for local families.
- Contributed ideas and parent perspectives to enhance family engagement and outreach efforts.
- Provided a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens to family events hosted across United Way.
- Our Work
- Soft Play Area at Kids Festival: Proposed by the PAC to make the event more inclusive for families with young children.
- May Mental Health Awareness Kits: Selected items and assembled materials for mental health awareness kits to support HOPES families during the month of May.
- Dia de los Muertos Altar at UWSA Office: PAC members decorated an altar at the UWSA office and presented on the significance of Dia de los Muertos (2023 & 2024).
- Leadership Development Training: Participated in training to enhance leadership skills and community impact.
- Crisis Nursery Focus Group: Contributed feedback to the concept during a focus group session for the Crisis Nursery.
- Holiday Photos Event for HOPES Families: Proposed the idea to host a Holiday Photos event to create lasting memories for HOPES families.
- HOPES Partner Videos: Suggested using partner videos as a recruitment and marketing strategy to increase engagement.
- Partners in Prevention Conference: PAC members attended the conference to expand their knowledge and awareness of family well-being.

Healthy Outcomes for Prevention and Early Support

United Way Eastside Family Resource Center
Established in January 2024 | Currently serving families who live in zip codes 78219 & 78220.
- Our Purpose
To co-create Family Resource Centers that are a safe haven for families to build relationships and to inspire creativity for caregivers and children to express themselves. We envision vibrant and welcoming environments where families feel supported and thrive within their communities. - Our Impact
The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) ensures the Eastside Family Resource Center reflects the community’s culture, needs, and experiences. Comprised of parents, caregivers, and grandparents, the PAC amplifies local voices to shape resources and activities. Fulfilling our commitment to being designed with the community, for the community. - Our Work
The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) plays a key role in shaping the Eastside Family Resource Center. Their input ensures the Family Care Closet is stocked with essentials families truly need and that Family Day food boxes are thoughtfully curated using a “by families, for families” approach. PAC members also co-design events and services, ensuring they are meaningful, inclusive, and responsive to the community.

The Dual Generation Initiative
Established in October 2021 | Currently serving families enrolled in the initiative or alumni
- Our Purpose
The Dual Generation Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is a group of parents who utilize the Dual Generation Initiative. The committee aims to ensure the initiative’s effectiveness in building San Antonio communities by being a voice for the unheard, creating more parent leaders, being resourceful for families in need, building a support system, and meeting and networking with families in the community. - Our Impact
We contributed input on the design and functionality of the United Way’s Eastside Family Resource Center.We shared our thoughts and ideas regarding the Crisis Nursery.We organized and implemented various family engagement events focused on Dual Generation strategies.We participated in leadership development initiatives.We hosted panel discussions to gather feedback for front-line staff working with families.
